THE WHITE AND THE PATH

A NOVEL OF FRACTURE AND RETURN

There are paths that appear only after collapse.

The White and the Path follows one man’s passage through childhood wounds, family silence, exile, addiction, travel, and reconstruction.
From Provence to London and Luxor, from Australia and Bali to Hong Kong and the countries of Southeast Asia, this deeply personal narrative traces a life repeatedly broken apart—and the slow emergence of a path back to oneself.

Why Read This Book?

This book speaks to anyone who has experienced loss, family silence, displacement, addiction, or the painful feeling of no longer belonging. Through an intimate and deeply human story, it explores how a life can fracture—and how a path may still emerge from the ruins.

Across continents and cultures, the outward journey gradually becomes an inward one. Each encounter, departure, and ordeal brings the narrator closer to a difficult but essential return: not to the person he once was, but to the person he is finally becoming.

The Crossing

Small bamboo bridge crossing through a dense green forest.

PROVENCE → LONDON → LUXOR AUSTRALIA → BALI → HONG KONG  NORTHERN THAILAND
LAOS → MYANMAR → CAMBODIA  MALAYSIA → FRANCE

Each destination marks a stage of transformation. London opens the way to healing; Luxor brings an encounter with mortality and compassion; Australia widens the spiritual horizon; and Bali, visited shortly after the terrorist bombing, reveals both the fragility of life and the resilience of a wounded place. Hong Kong and the journeys through Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Malaysia deepen the encounter with Asia in all its cultural, spiritual, and human diversity. The eventual return to France is not simply a return home, but the beginning of reconciliation with the past.

Fracture

Childhood wounds, family silence, loss, and the collapse of the first certainties.

“There are paths that appear only after collapse.”
